Embracer Reveals Five Lord Of The Rings Games Coming By 2024

Embracer Group, the massive Swedish conglomerate that owns the developers of Borderlands, Tomb Raider, and Deep Rock Galactic, just released its third-quarter report for its 2022 financial year. The report noted solid, continuing growth for what is historically its strongest quarter, with net sales up 28 percent compared to Q2.

The report also had a number of interesting tidbits. First, there are 94 Games currently in development and are due out before the end of March 2024, including Dead Island 2, Payday 3, and Remnant 2. On top of that, there are also five Lord of the Rings titles in development that will be out in the next 24 months.

One of those is almost certainly Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which is due out sometime between April and September, but the rest of them are currently unknown. Embracer purchased Middle-earth Enterprises last year, and the company has reported "a lot of interest among both internal and external partners for the Lord of the Rings IP across different media formats."

Of the 94 Games in the Embracer pipeline, just four of them are considered triple-A. The vast majority of them are considered double-A, single-A, or indie titles, while eight are considered DLC or larger updates for existing Games. While its triple-A Games make up less than five percent of Embracer's total pipeline, almost 20 percent of Embracer's developers are working on them.

Elsewhere in the report, Deep Rock Galactic developer Ghost Ship Games announced it's getting into publishing. Ghost Ship Publishing will help Game developers navigate "the rough waters of early access and/or running a live service" while offering "insight, guidance, and perspective whenever needed."

Ghost Ship can speak from experience as Deep Rock Galactic has been a runaway success for the studio. With over 5.5 million units sold and a 97-percent positive review score on Steam, Deep Rock Galactic is the 29th highest-rated game on the platform. It's recent inclusion on PlayStation Plus also generated almost 10 million more miners.

Jurgen Klopp warns Liverpool's defence of 'real problems' as pre-season struggles continue
