Signatures Of Extraterrestrial Technology Could Be How We Will First Discover Alien Life

Image
Numerous human inventions, from cell towers to fluorescent light bulbs, may serve as a beacon indicating the existence of life if an extraterrestrial race were to observe Earth. We are a team of two scientists engaged in SETI or the hunt for alien intelligence. In our studies, we look for characteristics and indications of Technology originating from places other than Earth. We refer to these as techno signatures. While it may seem simple to scan the skies for a TV broadcast of some otherworldly Olympics, finding evidence of distant, intelligent civilizations is far more complex and challenging than it may first appear. using radios and lasers to say “hi.” When astronomers Giuseppe Cocconi and Philip Morrison demonstrated that radio signals from Earth could be picked up by radio telescopes at interstellar distances, the present scientific hunt for alien intelligence got underway. The first SETI project, Project Ozma, was started in the same year by Frank Drake. He poi...

Ed Boon Has "Definitely Considered" A Mortal Kombat 4 Remake

Game Director at NetherRealm Studios Ed Boon recently remarked that a remake of Mortal Kombat 4 was “definitely considered.” This of course comes hot on the heels of the incredibly popular and highly successful remake of Dead Space, released earlier this month to widespread critical acclaim. The news comes from a brief exchange on the social media platform Twitter. When a user posted a picture showing a potential cover for a Mortal Kombat 4 remake, Boon pointed out that “yes, I’ve definitely considered this over the years.” The picture features a couple of characters from the series including Raiden, Liu Kang, and a variety of other popular protagonists. The words “Mortal Kombat 4 Remake” run along the bottom. Fallout 4 Mod Makes The Intro Nuke Kill You

Fallout 4 has perhaps the most dramatic introduction of any Fallout game. The Sole Survivor, whether that be the mother or father of Shaun, actually predates the war, surviving the nuclear apocalypse by hauling ass to an open vault and then cryogenically freezing themselves to awaken hundreds of years later. As cool as that intro sequence is, it’s not exactly realistic. The player character is actually above ground when a nuclear explosion goes off and only survives because the vault’s elevator dips below ground level just as the shockwave arrives. The reality of being anywhere near a nuclear explosion when it goes off is you’d be vaporized almost instantly with no waiting required. Astrobiologists Say Planet Earth Itself Might Actually Be An Intelligent Being

Image
Do planets have intelligence? That seems to be the main idea behind a new hypothesis put forth by astrobiologists: that planets are also intelligent beings. This thought experiment is based on the idea that planets like Earth have undergone changes due to the collective activity of life, such as that of microorganisms or plants, which has given them the ability to develop a life of their own. The research, which was published in the International Journal of Astrobiology, establishes a framework for evaluating a planet’s intelligence. To think of intelligence in terms of an intergalactic body rather than sentient creatures like humans is a startling prospect. But in a way, a planet can have a “ green mind “; this paradigm offers fresh perspectives on how to deal with crises like climate change and technological upheaval. The researchers defined planetary intelligence as “ cognitive activity ” and knowledge operating on a large planetary scale. We know intelligen...

Twitch To Add Warnings Before Ads And New Snooze Option

Twitch ads are a necessary but annoying thing. In theory, they help keep subscription prices down as they allow for streams to be monetised by large companies. In reality, they always seem to pop up just as the person you're watching is about to get a world record or clutch win. That may be a thing of the past as Twitch plans to introduce a feature that will warn you when ads are about to play and allow you to snooze them. As reported by Dexerto, an update on Twitch's blog details the upcoming ad changes planned for 2023. One big change is coming to how streamers disable pre-roll ads. These normally appear before a stream, meaning you have to wait a while to get stuck in. A previous change meant they could be disabled if 90 seconds of ads were run every 30 minutes, but now as long as three minutes are run per hour, it's up to the streamer when they run. Quick facts When is it? Every January 25th Tagged as Hobbies & Activities What's the hashtag? #ObservetheWeatherDay Have we missed something? Although it can be as simple as simply walking out the door and looking up to see what the sky looks like, observing the weather has developed into a very important Science . Using measurements and tools, weather people take note of all sorts of patterns and make their predictions about what might happen in the future. And, although the weather forecast might still not be 100% correct, it has certainly gotten better and more accurate over the past several decades.  History of Observe the Weather Day The Science of measuring the weather is a fairly new discipline when compared with other Science s. While weather has always been important to people, especially farmers, it wasn’t until the late 1700s and early 1800s that coordinated, scientific weather observations began in the United States. According to numerous sources, the Indian Su-30MKI will be equipped with the Israeli X-Ad fiber optic towed decoy system

IAF’s Sukhoi Su-30MKI is set to ɡet Rafael X-ɡᴜагd Fiber optic super sonic deсoу system. This system helps to evade Air to Air, Surface to Air Missiles as per medіа reports. X-ɡᴜагd is a сᴜttіпɡ edɡe towed deсoу solution for defeаtіпɡ advanced tracking radar, including monopole and Lobe-On-receive-only (LOBO) radar types. Towed behind the fіɡһteг aircraft, X-ɡᴜагd is deployable and retractable mid fɩіɡһt. The deсoу can be integrated with EW suite of any platform as a high-value active suite component. What Are Towed-Decoys? First, let us understand the term “deсoу”. deсoу means a thing that intends to attract someone by deceiving them. So basically Decoys on fіɡһteг aircraft work in a way, that they will attract the incoming tһгeаt and deсeіⱱe it towards themselves. And here the term “towed” means “to pull someone/something behind one object. So, basically towed decoys are such that they are рᴜɩɩed along with the aircraft and that deсoу will be part of the EW suits of a...

Slovakia holds referendum to enable snap election

Slovakia is holding a nationwide referendum on amending the country’s constitution to make possible an early election BRATISLAVA, Slovakia -- Slovakia held a nationwide referendum Saturday on amending the country’s constitution to make possible an early election. President Zuzana Caputova’s decided on the ballot last year after three opposition parties gathered over 380,000 signatures supporting the move. The constitution currently doesn’t offer such an option. In Saturday's vote, Slovaks are asked whether they agree that the Constitution should be amended to allow a snap election if it’s approved by Parliament or in a referendum . Slovakia’s constitutional court ruled in November at Caputova’s request that another referendum question — proposed by the opposition — asking whether the government should immediately resign, violates the constitution. To be legally binding, turnout in the ballot must be more than 50% in the nation of 5.4 million people. In the previous eight referendu...

NBA midseason awards picks: Nikola Jokic leads MVP race, but others earn votes; Rookie and Sixth Man unanimous

We're just past the halfway point of the 2022-23 NBA regular season, and just as there is great parity among the teams at the forefront the title conversation, it would appear there is very little separation among the MVP candidates at this point as well.  And yet, six of our eight staff picks go to the same guy. I'll give you a hint: He would be the first three-time winner since Larry Bird in the mid-eighties. Yes, Nuggets star Nikola Jokic would take home the award halfway through this season, our staff says, but there are also votes for Luka Doncic and Jayson Tatum, who should keep the MVP race interesting in the second half. There's a lot of agreement on all our award picks at this juncture, with two of them coming out unanimous : Paolo Banchero as Rookie of the Year and Malcolm Brogdon as Sixth Man of the Year. Below you can see where our CBS Sports staff stands on the halfway-point MVP, Defens...
